A famous 2000s-era internet hoax. The legend claimed that people around the world were mysteriously dreaming about the same man — an unidentified face with no name, no history, and no confirmed sighting outside of dreams.

How It Spread

The phenomenon began on a small forum where a user described a recurring dream involving an unfamiliar man's face, and asked whether anyone else had seen him. Within weeks, replies claiming the same encounter began appearing across unrelated forums, in different languages, from people with no apparent connection to one another.

The Reveal

The campaign was later confirmed to be a viral marketing hoax, seeded deliberately across forums and social platforms. Even after the reveal, the image continued to circulate — and continues to resurface periodically to this day, often stripped of its original context.
